Take a Shot at Reading
- our district reading challenge runs from Jan. 14-27, 2019. Students will get a reading log. They will need to record the number of minutes read outside of school each day on their log. A parent or guardian must sign it as well as the teacher. Completed logs are due on Jan. 28, 2019. There will be one winner for each grade level, class winners for 100 percent participation, and even a participation prize drawing for one student (a Kindle!). The student with the most reading minutes in grades K-2 will win a new bike! The student with the most reading minutes in grades 3-5 will win a new bike, too! Grade level winners will win 2 tickets to the Rams/Storm basketball game on Feb. 5, 2019, a t-shirt, be recognized as a top reader during the game, and be part of the Victory Line Cheer Squad! Also, one winner will get to deliver the game ball to the referee for the jump ball! So we want all students to "take a shot at reading" this month!

Spring Book Fair - Feb. 22-28, 2019 (more information to come)

Seventh Annual SVE Young Poets' Contest in April (more information to come)

When reading fiction, try to determine the main characters, the setting (when and where), a beginning, middle, and ending event, the story's problem and its solution and the theme (the big overall idea).
