Tana Gonzales Montessori

Hello families,

The month of September is upon us.  We are very fortunate to be able to have a full Chrome Cart in our room this year. T
hat means all students will be assigned their own Chromebook this year.  With that being said, I need to request, if possible, that students bring in their own headphones to use with their Chromebooks.  No earbuds please. Their headphones will be kept in a Ziploc bag in their mini libraries for their use only. All state assessments will take place in our classroom.  Thanks in advance!

We have had a few families sign up for Mystery Reader and are looking forward to Wednesdays.  I will send Mystery Reader forms via Remind so that you will have it when you are ready to pick a date.

Please take note of upcoming dates on the calendar tab to the left.  The calendar will show snack days, related arts, and no school days.

We have two upcoming fieldtrips, Wagner's Pumpkin Patch in October and Popejoy in November.  Please remember that you need to be an approved volunteer to attend all field trips.

Continue to help your child continue to build strong foundational skills and become a stronger reader try these ideas:

  • Play rhyming games
  • Sing nursery rhymes (they are not to old)
  • Read poems together

Also, have your child practice their math fluency by practicing their combos of ten as fast as they can.  For example, 1+9, 2+8, 3+7 or 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 etc..  They could create their own flashcards or play Make 10 Go Fish!  Another important skill is knowing their doubles to 12, 1+1, 2+2, etc..
