Happy Fall

Well, I can not believe that the month of October is here.

The annual Fall Book Fair will take place October 22nd through October 29th.

The Fall Carnival will take place on Friday, October 26th.
Flyers have gone home for presale tickets.

Lower Montessori will be hosting the SPOOKY SWEET SPOT during our Fall Carnival.  We are asking for donation of wrapped candy, Halloween party favors, cookies, cupcakes.  Candy and party favors can be sent in as soon as possible. Please send in cookies, cupcakes, or cakes the day of the carnival, October 26th.  These may be homemade!  THANK YOU!

MATH
The students are well deep into their Albanessi work plans. This program allows the students to work at their level and pace in mathematics. After completing a pre-test, the students are given individualized math assignments to complete to grow their brains! We have also begun our "Problem Solver" intervention period.  This takes place from 10:30-11:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays.  We are rotating all students in Lower and Upper Montessori to target specific math skills.  I believe the students are enjoying it because they get to learn in another teacher's classroom.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Students are grouped by grade level in the teaching of the required curriculum, ReadyGen.  I keep the first graders and our second graders go with Mrs. Britton for approximately 65 minutes per day with the exception of Wednesday.  Our theme for first grade for the current unit is "Building a Community".

                                               SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES
We will continue learning about matter, solids, liquids and gases, hot air ballooning, pumpkins and weather in the month of October.  We will also begin a shared research project on bats.

We are studying the 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey.
Please ask your child about them.

Habit 2 — Begin with the End in Mind

Have a Plan

I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school’s mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
